Psalms 135:1 – Proverbs 6:35

Overview

Day 45 of the Bible in 90 Days brings us to the half way point.  The reading includes both the conclusion of Psalms and the beginning of Proverbs.  These two books along with Job, Ecclesiastics and Song of Solomon are considered Poetry books in the bible.  Solomon is regarded as the primary author of Proverbs.  It begins with an explanation of the purpose of proverbs and then speaks specifically to certain issues/topics including staying away from the wrong crowd, avoiding sexual sin and learning to take heed to advice regarding physical well being.  Solomon reminds his audience to listen carefully to his words.    He tells us to seek out wisdom at all costs.

Scripture Psalms 139: 1-6

1 You have searched me, LORD, and you know me.  2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.  3 You discern my going out and my lying down;  you are familiar with all my ways.  4 Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely.  5 You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.  6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

God KnowsObservation

David longs after God  His relationship with our Heavenly Father is very close.  David recognizes that God knows every detail about him.  God knows all of David’s thoughts and actions including when he is awake or asleep.  He also knows Davids words before they are spoken.  David confesses that God knows him completely.

Application

God knows every aspect of us completely.  He knows our every thought, action and feeling and He still chooses to love us.  While we quietly sin against our Heavenly Father, He is always there right beside us, still loving us.  Psalms 139 goes on to say that we can’t hide from God because He is our creator who knitted us in our mothers womb.  It really is a wonderful thing to think about.  As rotten and selfish as we are, God still desires to have a relationship with us.  All he wants is for us to surrender to Him.

Prayer

Father your knowledge and wisdom are beyond my understanding.  You love me even when I don’t love you back.  Thank you for your unconditional love.
