Your Word Is Truth

Your Word Is Truth

Psalms 25:1 – 45:14

Overview

David has been writing from his heart.  Today’s reading reveals all of David’s emotions as he walks with God through life.  There were times that were very low and difficult for David.  There was also great Joy.  While there were times of deep loneliness, he always would try and seek out God.  David was moved to write psalms because of significant moments in his life including the dedication of the temple, when he pretended to be insane before Abimelek, and a wedding song.  There were also psalms of petition, reflection and praise.

Scripture Psalms 33: 1-5

1 Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.  2 Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.   3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. 5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.

Observation

Psalm 33 reflects the Lords joy, righteousness and unfailing love that David experienced.  His words point out that all who are righteous should be singing for joy and praising the Lord.  David also says that the word of the Lord is right and true.  If we follow the word of God we will be in right standing.  He also says that God Loves righteousness and justice and His love is unfailing.

Application

God has many attributes that each of us as Christians should strive to have.  He is righteous, and good.  He loves justice and truth.  His word is truth and we can rely on His faithfulness and unconditional love.  If we follow the word of God we will be in right standing.  This also means that if we do not follow the word of God we are not in right standing with God.  We should live and breath the word of God in our lives so we can follow him in truth.  His word it true and is the “north star” of our lives.  While circumstances around us constantly change, His Word does not.  We should read the  word of God and hide it in our hearts.  When times call for praise, we can praise the Lord with His word and unfailing love.  When times are difficult, we can hold close to the Word and it’s promises.

Prayer

Thank you Heavenly Father for your Holy word from Psalms.  It has proven to  be my “north star” for guidance and truth and encouragement.  Your Word has been a blessing to me and I praise your name!
