Acts 28:17 – Romans 14:23

Overview

Day 80 of the Bible in 90 days begins with the conclusion Acts and takes us half way through the book of Romans.  The Apostle Paul is the author of this book and he identifies himself as the Apostle to the Gentiles.  His letter is addressed to all of the Roman believers. The purpose of this letter was not to address any particular problem with the church but rather to prepare and encourage these believers for a future visit from the Apostle.  Much doctrine is established through Paul to believers in the early church and today. The book of Romans does reveal the theme of the power of God for Salvation for anyone who believes.  This Power and Salvation display the righteousness of God.  The message of salvation used by many people today comes from the book of Romans and  is known as  “Romans Road”.  These key verses  present the need for a Savior and How we can find Salvation.

Scripture ( Romans Road)  While there are variations with additional scripture references, the general message often used for the Romans Road is:

  • Romans 1:20-21:  “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.”
  • Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.”
  • Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
  • Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
  • Romans 10:9-10 “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
  • Romans 10:13 “For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

Romans Road

Through the message of Paul, an Apostle of Christ, God speaks clearly to anyone who reads these words.  There are no parables or poems here.  This is straight talk sharing how anyone who desires to chose life with God can find it.

Application

God desires each and every person to love Him and believe in Him.  The Bible reveals God’s  message to all of us but Paul makes it as clear as possible.  We are created by God but do not meet His standard of Holiness.   Because of our own selfish desires, we sin against God.   God’s Holiness can’t have anything to do with sin.  Even though we have this problem, our Lord provides a solution.  We need to realize we are a sinner who needs  God and trust in Him for Salvation.

Prayer

Father I pray that your words are made clear to those who read them.  Thank you for your awesome love for us and that you desire to be with us.  I pray that anyone who reads this message will decide to cry out to you for salvation.
