Heart Of ChristmasAs Christmas Day approaches, I remind myself daily that Christmas is more than a holiday. It is a day that followers of Christ remember the love that God displayed to us as he descended from heaven and took the form of a man. He would live as an example for all of mankind. He taught, healed, rebuked, loved and most importantly served as our way to have a direct relationship with God Almighty.  He is God’s spotless lamb who washes away my sin.

To help remind me of why we even have a Christmas season, I am reading a daily devotion called  “The Heart Of Christmas”.   I first did this devotion 1 year ago and it was a real blessing for me. This daily devotion begins on December 1st and culminates on Christmas day, 25 days later.

Each of the 25 devotions includes a scripture passage, devotional with questions to ponder as well as a Christmas carol you can read or even sing if you like.  I especially like the way the author uses the acronym C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S (Christ, History, Resurrection, Incarnation, Santa Claus, Traditions, Miracles, Advent, Salvation) to organize the different scripture topics that are presented.  Each devotion has something to do with one of these topics as he teaches the true meaning of CHRISTmas.

I pray that as we get closer to December 25th, we can also draw closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
